About

I’m interested in how computers can help elucidate complex ideas and support creative expression. I’ve worked as a software product & engineering manager in geospatial, real-time rendering, crowdfunding, news media, games, music, and politics. I studied the history and social impact of media technology at M.I.T., and intellectual history at the University of Washington.

I co-founded Mapzen, focused on open source & open data for mapping, and before that led the engineering and product teams at Kickstarter from 2010-2014. I started my career back at streaming media pioneer RealNetworks. Most recently I was head of product development at the American Civil Liberties Union, working on advocacy and mobilization for the 2018 election cycle.
